Writting and the Internet
Technology has changed writing but I believe this article goes a little overboard. Through online communities and texting we are creating an extension of the English language. English as not a dead language and therefore changes with the times and as people use it; it is only a matter of time before the things we use online become used in everyday writing. However I have to disagree with the claim the article says about improving student’s writing. I write online, I text, and I send e-mails, but I still believe that my writing skills come from school and the constant practice that they make me go through each year. Writing the way we write online, what is considered to be informal, does not in my opinion truly develop a person’s writing skills.

The Wiki of Duke University
The Duke Wiki, or Duiki, is an online community similar to popular social networks such as facebook and myspace. It is meant to be exclusively to students of Duke and with the purpose of trying to create an online community that brings everyone in Duke closer together both on and offline. It is also filled with reviews and descriptions of places and things relating to Duke itself and the surrounding area. Surprisingly enough this website is ran solely by volunteers showing the dedication of its members through its polished presentation.
